INGENIERÍA TORNÉ S.L. carried out, at the request of the Aragon Health Service, the reform project for the air conditioning system of the Calatayud Hospital.
Due to the existing issues in the hospital, including the breakage of various pipes in the air conditioning system and several boilers, the Aragon Health Service commissioned INGENIERÍA TORNÉ S.L. to conduct a study of the possible causes behind these breakages.
Following the completion of the study, it is determined that the problem is caused by oxidation and corrosion processes affecting the steel pipes, due to the characteristics of the service water.
Although corrective measures are deferred for a future intervention, the replacement of the air conditioning circuits (Cooling and Heating) in the external consultations module is deemed necessary, as significant breakages in the pipes have been detected, rendering two of them inoperable.
The reform project consisted of installing the external air conditioning circuits for the external consultations module of the Hospital, using pre-insulated plastic pipes precisely to prevent the circuit water from causing corrosion processes in the pipes again.
The construction was carried out by CONSTRUCCIONES FRUAN S.L. in the year 2011, completely resolving the issue, and the hospital's air conditioning system operated correctly during the winters of 2011, 2012, and 2013, as well as the summer of 2012.
